Saffron Scribe Terms and Conditions

Any estimate and subsequent contract entered in to will be subject exclusively to the Terms & Conditions set out below and acceptance of an estimate and granting a commission to Saffron Scribe will represent agreement to these. This agreement will be governed by the law of England and Wales.

Fees

My fees are calculated on a per-project basis and reflect the amount of time I believe will be involved in researching, writing, revising and proofreading your project. Once agreed, the project fee won’t change unless there’s a significant change in scope, as this may require more time for research and writing. The project fee includes;

  • Research
  • Writing the initial draft
  • Two rounds of revisions
  • Final proofread
  • Completed project supplied as a Word document

Any additional revisions required after submission of the final draft are not included in the fee quoted and would require further discussion.

The project fee does not include meetings with third party agencies or travelling expenses, unless required as part of the brief and agreed in advance.

I am not registered for VAT and so all fees quoted are excluding VAT.

Payment Terms

As highlighted in the About section, 50{4415f8dba950a09175b159a10a27c0e8ac1315618a3dbbd8a1a6b57c66700cd9} of the agreed project fee is due in advance. Once the final draft is approved, I will submit an invoice for the balance outstanding and the payment terms are 14 days from the date of the invoice.

Should payment not be received within these terms, I will send a friendly reminder. Continued non-payment within 14 days of the reminder will attract a penalty surcharge of 20{4415f8dba950a09175b159a10a27c0e8ac1315618a3dbbd8a1a6b57c66700cd9} of the invoice value. Beyond this I will need to engage a debt recovery service and the costs of doing so will be added the value of the outstanding invoice.

Should you wish to cancel the project after giving your written confirmation, an invoice for the work carried out will be submitted for payment.

All payments are to via bank transfer and account details will appear on my invoices.

Working Together

The quality of the project brief is critical in allowing me to produce the content you want. We must therefore work together to ensure I have a deep understanding of your needs. Once I begin working on the project, you must notify me immediately if the brief changes and the fee may need to be adjusted accordingly.

Once we have discussed your needs and agreed on the scope, timescales and fee for the project, I will need written confirmation of your agreement. At this point I will submit an invoice for 50{4415f8dba950a09175b159a10a27c0e8ac1315618a3dbbd8a1a6b57c66700cd9} of the agreed fee for the project.

Following submission of the initial draft, I will anticipate receiving your comments within 14 days. The same timescale will apply to feedback on subsequent drafts up to the agreed number. If there are no amendments, an invoice for the balance of the agreed project fee will be submitted.

In the event substantial amendments are needed, an additional fee may be necessary. Similarly, if more than two rounds of revisions are required, I will highlight any extra costs incurred.

Working with Agencies

I am happy to accept projects from Agencies. If you contract me on behalf of an Agency to work on a project for a client, the agreement is between me and the Agency and not between me and the client of the Agency.

I need to have a single point of contact within the Agency that has the authorisation to make decisions and sign-off work on behalf of their client.

The work I produce will be in line with the project brief agreed with the Agency and the Agency agrees to indemnify me in the case of any claim made by the client of the Agency for damages or compensation related to the material I provide.

Copyright & Responsibilities

I retain the copyright for the work produced until all the agreed costs are paid in full. Once all payments are made, the copyright passes to you.

As the client, you are responsible for the final published material, whether in print or online. You are responsible for ensuring materials are authentic, accurate and free from copyright restriction.

I will endeavour to ensure there are no errors or misrepresentations, but responsibility for the accuracy of facts and details contained in the final draft is yours. Once signed-off, I have no liability for any legal repercussions that may arise as a result of its use.

I do not accept any responsibility for any issues, claims or losses resulting from the work I undertake and complete under your instruction.

Confidentiality

I can give you my assurances that any commercially sensitive information shared during our working together will be kept strictly confidential and will not be shared with any other party.

Of course, I would be happy to sign a non-disclosure agreement if you feel it necessary.
